Eighth, perfuming and non-perfuming: The dharmas capable of perfuming are of three kinds: first, the perfuming of verbal expression perfuming consciousness; second, the perfuming of the consciousness of views perfuming the consciousness of consciousness and perfuming the consciousness of views; third, the perfuming of defilement perfuming karma and perfuming karmic fruition. That which is perfumed is the ālayavijñāna. This is explained extensively in the Mahāyānasaṃgraha under the section on knowing the superior characteristics.
