七、略本經者，即此土所傳六十卷本，梵本有三萬六千偈，是前十萬偈中要略所出。昔晉義熙十四年，於楊州謝司空寺譯，天竺三藏法師名佛度跋陀羅，此云覺賢，是大乘三果人，姓釋迦氏，甘露飯王之苗胤，曾往兜率天就彌勒問疑，具如別傳。

Seventh, as for the Abridged Version of the Sūtra: this is the sixty-fascicle version transmitted in this land. The Sanskrit text has 36,000 gāthās, which was extracted as an essential abridgement from the previous 100,000 gāthās. Formerly, in the fourteenth year of the Yixi era of the Jin dynasty, it was translated at the Xiesikong Monastery in Yangzhou by an Indian Tripiṭaka Master named Buddhabhadra, rendered here as Juexian (Buddhabhadra). He was a person of the three fruits of the Mahāyāna, of the Śākya clan, a descendant of King Amṛtodana, who once went to Tuṣita Heaven to ask Maitreya to resolve doubts, fully as recounted in his separate biography.
