As for the general explanation: there may be two kinds of Three Jewels: first, real, referring to the preceding distinct characteristics; second, nominal, referring to the preceding perpetuating representation. This is according to the small vehicle and devas and humans, though the meanings differ; or three kinds, meaning the common characteristic and so forth, as before, which terminates with the three vehicles; or ten approaches are used to reveal them, which should be known to be explained according to the one vehicle. Why? Because these ten characteristics of the Three Jewels, in the mental realization of cultivation, are manifested everywhere in the place of comparative teaching and wisdom, which is the perpetuating representation accomplishing its great benefit, with host and companions fully complete, penetrating Indra's net, the minute, and so forth. Here it also gathers the Three Jewels clarified in all the preceding teachings, which are all included within it.
