Fifth is the gate of abandoning the branches and returning to the root: only the twelve Jewels within the one vehicle are fully equipped as host and companions, exhausting the dharmadhātu, fully pervading the three worlds, and encompassing all dharmas; this is the true place of refuge. The rest follow the capacities of beings and are unfixed in their deficiency and fullness. Alternatively, they may also be comprehensively included, because the root and branches are in perfect interpenetration without duality of marks, because they encompass expedient means, and because they are of one and the same dharmadhātu; therefore, even what is attained by humans and devas is included within them. The remaining meanings should be inferred accordingly.
