五、辨四依者，謂心了塵空寂，不緣名相，是依智不依識。謂了塵是緣起之法，非在分別，是依法不依人。謂了塵無生無相之義，不在文字，是依義不依語。謂了塵上若具顯一切法界，非有分限，此則依了義經、不依不了義經。

Fifth, distinguishing the four reliances: the mind comprehending that the dust mote is empty and tranquil and not conditioning itself upon names and marks is relying on wisdom and not relying on consciousness. Comprehending that the dust mote is a dharma of pratītyasamutpāda and does not consist in discrimination is relying on the Dharma and not relying on the person. Comprehending that the dust mote's meaning of anutpāda and animitta does not consist in words is relying on the meaning and not relying on the letter. Comprehending that in the dust mote all dharmadhātus are completely manifested without any demarcation is relying on sūtras of definitive meaning and not relying on sūtras of provisional meaning.
