Eighth, opening nirvāṇa: Not understanding the manifestation of the dust mote, one is deluded by manifestation and takes it to be arising; seeing again the concealment of the dust mote, one is deluded by concealment and takes it to be cessation. Basing oneself upon these fluctuating marks of arising and cessation, conditioning them upon the dust mote, the deluded mind transforms and produces them, taking them to be real. Now, seeking the marks of arising and cessation, they ultimately have no place of arising, nor can they be found; moving thoughts vanish of themselves, and false conceptualisations are entirely extinguished. In accordance with that place of extinction, it is called great nirvāṇa. Hence a sūtra says: 'Transmigration is saṃsāra; non-movement is called nirvāṇa.'
