Ninth, "Entering the Ocean of the Buddhas": this means that within the entirety of a dust mote, one sees that the meanings of the hundred gates as described above are completely manifested by the great ocean of the Buddhas' vows, the great ocean of their wisdom, and the great ocean of their skillful means; and extending even to all dust motes, all hair-tips, all oceans of lands and kṣetras, all buddhas and sentient beings, and all phenomena and things, none are not empty, being the great ocean of the Buddhas' wisdom, boundless and inexhaustible, unfathomably deep and vast. One should know that if a student sees the entire dharmadhātu within a dust mote, this is precisely entering the wisdom ocean of the Buddhas' dharmadhātu. If, through expansion and contraction, roll-up and unroll, whether inside a dust mote or within a pore of skin, they are able to nourish and subsume—the one is the all and the all is the one, the expressible is the inexpressible, host and companion are sovereign, the dependent and the proper are unobstructed—this is universally the activity and function of the Tathāgata's wisdom ocean. If a person thoroughly penetrates in this way, they are equal to the Tathāgata.
