Under a generous reward there must be brave men.
This verse: The Lotus Sūtra says: "For example, a mighty wheel-turning sage king gives various rewards to those who have merit in military combat, but only the jewel in his topknot does he not give. If there is someone brave and strong who can perform difficult deeds, the king unties the bright jewel in his topknot and bestows it on him." Drawing upon this wondrous metaphor clarifies the profound purport of tallying with the Middle Way. Xianshou classified this as the Final Teaching, which only then exhausts the ultimate doctrine of the Great Vehicle.
