Second, regarding the practice of benefiting others, 'seal' takes its name from an analogy. What is it? It is like the great ocean, extremely deep, thoroughly clear and pure to the bottom, such that when the lord of devas and the asuras do battle, all the hosts of soldiers and all the weapons are manifested clearly and distinctly within it, like a seal revealing characters; therefore it is called the 'ocean-seal'. The samādhi that one can enter is also like this: thoroughly realizing the dharmatā without source or bottom, by virtue of ultimate purity, serene and clear, the three realms are manifested within it; it is called the 'ocean-seal'. 'Abundant' carries the meaning of flourishing. 'Produces' refers to gushing forth without end. 'Wish-fulfilling' takes its name from an analogy. The king of wish-fulfilling jewels, without deliberate mind, rains down jewels to benefit beings, according with conditions without end. The skillful upāya of Śākyamuni Tathāgata is also like this: proclaimed by a single voice, it responds to the realm of sentient beings, extinguishing evil and generating good, benefiting sentient beings, fulfilling wishes wherever it is applied; therefore it is called 'wish-fulfilling'.
