清涼釋海印云：以十義釋之，表無盡之用。一無心能現義、二現無所現義、三能現與所現非一義、四非異義、五無去來義、六廣大義、七普現義、八頓現義、九常現義、十非現現義。

Qingliang explains the ocean seal, saying: 'It is explained by means of ten meanings to express its inexhaustible functioning: 1. the meaning of being without mind yet able to manifest; 2. the meaning of manifesting without anything manifested; 3. the meaning that that which manifests and that which is manifested are not one; 4. the meaning that they are not different; 5. the meaning of having no coming or going; 6. the meaning of vastness; 7. the meaning of universal manifestation; 8. the meaning of sudden manifestation; 9. the meaning of constant manifestation; 10. the meaning of non-manifesting manifestation.'
