智通記云：問：見聞等三位，普法正位耶？答：不也，但從三乘作是說耳。若普法正法，即無位無不位，一切六道三界法界法門無不普法正位。又一位一切位、一切位一位。如位法門，一切行教義等法門亦爾。可思。問：若爾，普法中以何為始？答：得一法門以為始，此則與終無別也。

Zhitong's Record states: 'Question: Are the three stages of seeing and hearing, etc., the correct stages of the universal Dharma? Answer: No, this is merely spoken from the perspective of the three vehicles. If it is the correct Dharma of the universal Dharma, then there is neither stage nor non-stage; among all Dharma-gates of the six destinies, the three realms, and the dharmadhātu, there is none that is not the correct stage of the universal Dharma. Moreover, one stage is all stages, and all stages are one stage. As with the Dharma-gate of stages, so it is with all Dharma-gates of practice, teaching, principle, and so forth. Contemplate this. Question: If so, what is taken as the beginning in the universal Dharma? Answer: Attaining a single Dharma-gate is taken as the beginning; this then is not distinct from the end.'
