The Treatise on the Profound Text of the Great Fundamental Ground: The treatise says of the non-transcending, sequentially gradual turning stages, in verse: "Among the fifty-one stages, / Sequentially without transcendent turning, / One contains all: / This is called the gradually turning stage." The treatise commentary says: "For a single practitioner, within the fifty-one kinds of particular stages, according to their sequence, there is no phenomenon of transcendence." Of the non-remainder ultimate dhāraṇī stage, the verse says: "Among the fifty-one stages, / According to what is first entered, / It subsumes all and everything: / This is called non-remainder ultimate." The treatise commentary says: "Among the particular characteristics of the fifty-one stages, there may be a practitioner who enters through faith, or a practitioner who enters through the ground of tathatā, or a practitioner who enters through the ground of the great culmination (and so on). According to what is first entered, it completely subsumes all; all stages and grounds are ultimate without remainder, without transference and without exit or entry, each and every one purely clear." Of the universally pervasive, complete, and vast stage, the verse says: "The fifty-one kinds of stages / Are without before or after, simultaneous; / Because they turn together and are practiced together, / It is called universally pervasive and complete." The treatise commentary says: "The fifty-one stages are without before or after; they turn together and are practiced together simultaneously, with nothing left over. Also, among the fifty-one particular stages, all the immeasurable and boundless stages are without before or after; they turn together simultaneously and are practiced together simultaneously, horizontally turning without direction for the person of the Way." Of the stage where all dharmas are together not stages, the verse says: "All immeasurable and boundless, / All the various stages, / Are entirely unestablished: / This is called the ground where all are not." The treatise commentary says: "Neither cause nor fruit (and so on); because of its meaning of negation, it is established as a stage." Of the stage where all dharmas are together stages, the verse says: "All the various dharmas / Are none other than the vajra-body; / Because of the meaning of a single body, / It is called the gate where all are." The treatise commentary says: "This is called the person of the Way without affliction." As for the king of mountains of the single-body vajra-jewel wheel, what are its characteristics? The verse says: "Gradual, yes, exhausted, non-, complete, / Simultaneous and before-and-after, / Together with, and together-not, / Turning in one and different times and places."
