1.57

已前三件，並斷重收。雖開暫學，為遮俗美，終非久翫，故捨入僧。紙墨有餘，乃兼道務，而本意附俗，不同前條，並從重例。經律正制者，以莊嚴丈頌樂世法故。

The three items above are all determined to be classified as heavy property. Although temporarily permitted to be studied in order to block mundane criticism, they are ultimately not for prolonged study; therefore they are relinquished and surrendered to the saṅgha. If paper and ink remain, they may serve tasks of the Way, but because the original intent pertained to mundane matters, differing from the previous clause, they all follow the precedent of heavy property. The explicit prohibition in the scriptures and vinaya is because they ornament verse and hymn, delighting in worldly dharmas.
