This second sūtra clarifies the first sprouting of the correct etiquette of etiquette and reverence. Where the text is incomplete, what exists is spoken of. Stroking with the hands and kissing with the mouth represent the utmost of cherish and respect, which could not be contained. Distant reverence begins at the lowest place, and therefore starts at the feet. As for the rest, announcing names and displaying outward marks to resolve the doubts of those who were uncertain, these were not correct reverence.
