所以仰對尊容，貪拜廣歎，求諸佛之護念，畏惡業之牽挽，等羝羊之前却，同難陀之欣奉，雖為善興，終歸雜毒。是名因福起罪一也。

Therefore, looking up toward the venerable image, one greedily bows and profusely praises, seeking the protective mindfulness of all Buddhas and dreading the pull of evil karma. This is like the ram stepping forward and back, or like Nanda's delighted veneration: though initiated for the good, it ultimately returns to mingled poison. This is called the first [fault]: giving rise to sin on account of merit.
