日本元慶四年八月一日，延曆寺沙門圓珍於總持坊記。（昨日彼上人自將來，緣此方燈期朔日，故埴忌不話。）

Recorded by the śramaṇa Enchin of Enryaku-ji at the Sōji-bō on the first day of the eighth month in the fourth year of the Genkei era of Japan (880 CE). (Yesterday that Master brought it personally; because in this region the new moon is an occasion for light offerings, out of ritual abstention we did not speak.)
