Master Yu also stated that the second courtyard to the north of the next small lane is named the Sick Quarter for Holy Ones. Its gates open as described above. When great holy ones such as Śāriputra fall ill, they retreat into it; chambers, halls, and communal utensils are fully provided, and medical recipes and herbal dispensaries constantly supply them. It is designated solely for holy ones; ordinary monks are not to reside there.
