3.30

「復有眾生五根不具。何罪所致？」佛言：「以前世時飛鷹走狗彈射鳥獸，或破其頭、或斷其足，生搣其翼使受痛苦。以是惡業故獲斯罪。」

"There are sentient beings whose five sense faculties are incomplete. What sin has caused this?" The Buddha said: "In former lives, they flew falcons, ran hounds, and shot birds and beasts with pellets and arrows, crushing their heads, severing their feet, or ripping off their wings alive to cause them agony. Due to this evil karma, they receive this retribution of sin."
