1.104

云何「見佛種種神變發菩提心」？若見如來依根本禪，一心作一，不得眾多；若放一光，從阿鼻獄上至有頂，火光晃耀，天地洞明，日月戢重輝，天光隱不現。願我得佛，齊聖法王（云云）。

What does it mean to "generate the bodhicitta upon seeing the Buddha's various spiritual transformations"? If one sees the Tathāgata rely on fundamental dhyāna, where one mind produces one [transformation] and cannot produce many; or if he emits a single ray of light from Avīci Hell up to the Peak of Existence, its fiery light gleaming and blazing, illuminating heaven and earth through and through, so that the sun and moon fold their layered radiance and the light of devas is concealed and does not appear—[such a person vows:] "May I attain Buddhahood and equal the holy Dharma King!" and so forth.
