The Avataṃsaka says: 'The mind, the Buddha, and sentient beings—these three are without distinction.' One should know that one's own mind is endowed with all Buddha-dharmas. The Viśeṣacintā says: 'Being deluded about the aggregates, realms, and sense fields, one seeks to attain bodhi; the aggregates, realms, and sense fields are themselves it; apart from these there is no bodhi.' Vimalakīrti says: 'The liberation of the Tathāgatas should be sought in the mental activities of sentient beings.' 'Sentient beings are themselves bodhi, which cannot be attained again; sentient beings are themselves nirvāṇa, which cannot be extinguished again.' 'Since this is so for one mind, it is so for all minds, and it is so for all dharmas.' The Samantabhadra Contemplation Sūtra says: 'Vairocana pervades all places.' This is precisely the meaning. One should know that all dharmas are themselves the Buddha-dharma, because of the Tathāgata's dharmadhātu.
