The Avataṃsaka-sūtra says: "The ocean rain poured by the Sāgara dragon king like cart axles cannot be borne by other lands." For those of superior capacities, it expounds the perfect and full sūtra, while those of the two vehicles are as if deaf and mute. The Vimalakīrtinirdeśa says: "One who enters a campaka forest does not smell other scents; one who enters this room smells only the fragrance of the virtues of the Buddhas." The Śūraṅgamasamādhi-sūtra says: "Pounding ten thousand kinds of incense into a pellet, if a single grain is burned, it contains all the aromas." The Pañcaviṃśatisāhasrikā-prajñāpāramitā says: "To know all phenomena through sarvākārajñatā, one should train in the prajñāpāramitā." The Lotus Sutra says: "Joining their palms with reverent minds, they wish to hear the complete path." The Mahāparinirvāṇa-sūtra says: "It is like a person bathing in the great ocean: know that this person has already made use of the waters of all rivers." The Avataṃsaka-sūtra says: "It is like the rising sun: it first illuminates the high mountains, next illuminates the deep ravines, and next illuminates the flat plains." The flat plains represent the indeterminate; the deep ravines, the gradual; and the high mountains, the sudden.
