As for those who posit nature and commit evil: they claim that all things are natural, indulge their desires to create evil, and in the end return to nature. This turns one's back on desirelessness and indulges desires, going against the subtle to consort with the coarse. Just as Zhuang Zhou denounced benevolence and righteousness, saying that although they guard against petty thieves, he did not consider that great thieves would hold up benevolence and righteousness to plot against their states. Originally, nature was used to quell desires, yet they hold up nature to do evil; the meaning here can be understood.
