Constantly cultivating contemplative wisdom to correspond with the principle of the hindrance, like form and shadow, is called the 'stage of contemplative practice'. Being able to ensure that all evil dharmas and worldly occupations do not conflict with the true contemplation is the 'stage of resemblance'. Advancing into the copper-wheel rank and destroying the root of the hindrance—the root meaning avidyā—when the root is toppled and the branches broken, revealing the Buddha-nature, this is the 'stage of partial realization of reality'. Up to the Buddhas, who exhaust the source and depths of the hindrance, this is called the 'ultimate stage'. Vertically possessing the six identities within the hindrance of greed, and horizontally possessing the perfections, all dharmas follow this pattern (and so forth).
