The *Tattvasiddhi* says: "The former actions are among the latter three; the latter actions are among the former seven. The seven are karma and are also the path, capable of leading to future lives; the latter three are not karma, yet can lead to the seven, and thus can also be the path." In the sūtras they are also called the "twelve entanglements" and the "twelve-spoked wheel." Bound without end, they are called a "wheel"; separated across the three periods of time, they are called "fragmentary [birth and death]." Obscuring the principle of the ultimate truth so that one cannot attain liberation, this is the illness. When the illness is stated, the medicine is known: the medicine is the calming and contemplation of entering emptiness from the provisional. Contemplating the medicine, one knows the illness; hence this delusion is subsumed by the calming and contemplation of entering emptiness.
