Furthermore, a follower through faith gains wisdom by hearing; through wisdom they produce the uncontaminated [state] and attain all-knowledge. Because this knowledge comes from hearing, it is called 'knowledge of wisdom'. A follower through the Dharma attains samādhi by contemplation; through samādhi they produce the uncontaminated [state] and accomplish the wisdom eye. Because this eye comes from meditation (dhyāna), it is called 'seeing with the eye'. However, knowledge and seeing equally witness the truth of emptiness; deriving their names fundamentally from their causal origins, they are thus spoken of as 'knowledge' and 'seeing'. This distinction is made with respect to the wisdom eye and all-knowledge; the remaining two eyes and two knowledges are likewise modeled on this. If one considers the eye and knowledge of a single mind, it is not like this.
