Regarding the place in terms of contemplating the mind: it is the principle of the truths. The dharma of the middle way is secluded and profound; the seven kinds of expedients have their tracks cut off and cannot reach it, so it is called 'deep.' High, vast, and immovable, it is called 'mountain.' Far removed from the two extremes, it is called 'quiet.' Non-arising and non-originating, it is called 'idle.' The Pañcaviṃśati says: 'If from a thousand yojanas away one gives rise to the mind of a śrāvaka, though this person's body is far removed, their mind is not far removed.' Taking turmoil as non-turmoil is not being far removed. Even if one dwells beside a city, if one does not give rise to the mind of the two vehicles, that is called 'being far removed.' This is the superior place.
