4.128

觀心知識者，《大品》云：「佛、菩薩、羅漢是善知識；六波羅蜜、三十七品是善知識；法性、實際是善知識。」若佛菩薩等威光覆育，即外護也。六度、道品是入道之門，即同行也。法性、實際，即是諦理，諸佛所師；境能發智，即教授也。

As for contemplating the mind with respect to good friends, the *Large Sūtra* says: "Buddhas, bodhisattvas, and arhats are good friends; the six pāramitās and thirty-seven aids to awakening are good friends; the dharmatā and the limit of reality (bhūtakoṭi) are good friends." If buddhas, bodhisattvas, and others shelter and nurture with their awe-inspiring radiance, this is the external protector. The six pāramitās and the aids to the path are the gateways to entering the path; this is the fellow practitioner. Dharmatā and the limit of reality are the truth-principle, the teacher of all buddhas; because the object can give rise to wisdom, this is the teacher.
