復次，言語分別邐迆階梯，前鈍利兩蓋是凡夫時所棄；俗諦上蓋，是二乘時所棄；障中道蓋是菩薩時所棄。如此論蓋，後不關初。《地》、《攝》二論師多明此意。果頭之法，不關凡夫，那可即事而修？

Furthermore, verbal distinctions form a gradual ladder: the former two hindrances of dull and sharp are discarded when one is an ordinary person; the hindrances regarding conventional truth are discarded when one belongs to the two vehicles; the hindrances obstructing the middle way are discarded when one is a bodhisattva. If one discusses the hindrances like this, the later does not pertain to the former. The masters of the Daśabhūmika and the Mahāyānasaṃgraha mostly explain this meaning. The dharma of the stage of fruition does not pertain to ordinary persons; how could it be cultivated immediately in phenomenal affairs?
