Why is this? Because views arise based on non-existence, one should not cling; even arising views based on neither existence nor non-existence are all called clinging to self, person, sentient being, or soul. One contemplates such dharmas and non-dharmas as being entirely identical with emptiness. By means of this contemplation, one can comply with the undefiled and guard against existence and non-existence—the sixty-two views; hence it is called the 'precept following the way'. If one repeatedly reflects on this contemplation until one's thinking is fully matured, encountering conditions and confronting objects, all sights and sounds are entirely identical with emptiness; this is called the 'unattached precept'. Guarding against the delusions of thought and wholesomely complying with the ultimate truth, this is called 'contemplating that the mind of causes and conditions is identical with emptiness to uphold the two kinds of precepts'.
