5.10
以惡動故，惡欲滅；善動故，善欲生。魔遽出境，作諸留難，或壞其道。故次業說魔。
Because evil is stirred, evil seeks to be extinguished; because good is stirred, good seeks to arise. The māras suddenly emerge into the realm to create various difficulties, or to destroy the practitioner's path. Therefore, following karma, māras are expounded.
