5.11

若過魔事，則功德生。或過去習因，或現在行力，諸禪競起；或味、或淨，或橫、或竪。故次魔說禪。

If one overcomes demonic affairs, virtues arise. Either through the cause of past habit or through the power of present practice, various dhyānas vie to arise; they may be tainted or pure, horizontal or vertical. Therefore, following māras, dhyāna is expounded.
