5.15

若憶本願，故不墮空者，諸方便道菩薩境界即起也。《大品》云：「有菩薩不久行六波羅蜜，若聞深法，即起誹謗，墮泥犁中。」此是六度菩薩耳。通教方便位，亦有謗義；入真道，不謗也。別教初心知有深法，是則不謗。此等悉是諸權善根，故次二乘後說也。

If, recollecting their original vows, they do not fall into emptiness, the realms of the bodhisattvas of the various expedient paths will immediately arise. The Mahāprajñāpāramitā-sūtra says: "There are bodhisattvas who have not practiced the six perfections for long; if they hear the profound Dharma, they slander it and fall into Naraka." These are only the bodhisattvas of the six perfections. In the expedient stages of the shared teaching, there is also the possibility of slandering; once they enter the path of truth, they do not slander. Those at the initial mind of the distinctive teaching know that there is a profound Dharma, and thus do not slander. All of these are provisional roots of good; therefore, they are expounded after the two vehicles.
