5.36

更不更者，自有一境，一更、兩更，乃至多多；自有一境，一發即休，後不復發。如是等種種不同，善識其意，莫謬去取。然皆以止觀研之，使無滯也。

"Recurrent or non-recurrent" means: a realm may naturally recur once, twice, or even many times; or a realm may cease after arising once and never arise again. Such various differences must be well understood in their significance; do not wrongly accept or reject them. However, one should examine them all with calming and contemplation so that there is no obstruction.
