6.193

修此雙流，凡有三處。若別接通者：七地論修，八地論證。別教十迴向論修，登地論證。如此修、證，高遠迢遰，初心眾生尚不得修乾慧，云何能證八地耶？此中道觀，於凡無益。又初心尚未入十信至迴向，若無迴向，豈得修中？無修則無證。此中道觀於凡夫人望崖無益。

Cultivating this dual flow occurs in three places in all. If the shared [teaching] is connected to by the distinctive [teaching]: cultivation is discussed at the seventh stage, and realization is discussed at the eighth stage. In the distinctive teaching, cultivation is discussed at the ten dedications, and realization is discussed upon ascending to the [first] stage. Such cultivation and realization are lofty and distant; when beings at the initial mind have not even cultivated the dry wisdom stage, how could they realize the eighth stage? This contemplation of the middle way would be of no benefit to ordinary people. Furthermore, at the initial mind they have not yet entered the ten faiths up to the dedications; without the dedications, how could they cultivate the middle? Without cultivation there is no realization. Looking at this contemplation of the middle way like a sheer cliff, it would be of no benefit to ordinary people.
