7.107

若鹿透圍，小得免難，並馳並顧，悲鳴呦咽，痛戀本群；雖復踟蹰，更知何益？茹氣吞聲，銜悲前進。緣覺如是。自出生死，愍念眾生，雖悲悼哀傷，不能救拔。

It is like a deer breaking through the encirclement, just barely escaping hardship, running while looking back, bleating and sobbing mournfully, painfully longing for its original herd; even though it hesitates, what further use is it? Swallowing its breath and stifling its voice, bearing sorrow it advances. The pratyekabuddha is like this. Having personally escaped birth and death, feeling pity for sentient beings, though grieving and mourning, they cannot rescue them.
