If there is red dysentery, white dysentery, sudden affliction by evil, a pale blue face, upturned eyes, blackened lips, and failure to recognize people, firmly pinch the cinnabar field with the hands, and in a moment it will be cured. Furthermore, wherever there is pain on the body, strike the painful affected area forcefully with a staff forty or fifty times. What is the meaning of this? All illnesses are nothing other than creations of the mind; when the mind has grief, worry, and anxious thoughts, perverse qi is able to enter. Now, pressing it with pain leaves no leisure for erratic thoughts; the perverse qi departs, and the illness is removed.
