8.153

若廢行法，出於道場，此決須償。不得讀誦聽學、營私眾務，決應方便求財償之。此釋與《優婆塞戒經》同。經云：「若負三寶物人，正事修道，欲求須陀洹乃至阿羅漢者，則不須償也；不學道，應急償也。」阿羅漢人若用佛物，此則無罪。

If one abandons the practice of the method and leaves the bodhimaṇḍa, this definitely must be repaid. One must not chant, study, or engage in private affairs and collective business; one definitely must use skillful means to seek wealth to repay it. This interpretation agrees with the Upāsakaśīla Sūtra. The sūtra says: 'If a person who owes goods to the Three Jewels is directly engaged in cultivating the Way, seeking srotāpanna up to arhat, then they do not need to repay; if they do not study the Way, they should repay urgently.' If an arhat uses the Buddha's property, this is without fault.
