8.197

圓教初住俱破八魔，得菩提道，破煩惱魔（云云）。乃至妙覺，八魔究竟永盡。雖初住破非初住破；雖後覺破非後覺破；而不離初住、後覺。是為破法遍也。

In the perfect teaching, the initial abode breaks all eight māras together, attains the path of bodhi, breaks the affliction-māra (and so on), up to wondrous enlightenment where the eight māras are ultimately and eternally exhausted. Although the initial abode breaks them, it is not [only] the initial abode that breaks them; although the subsequent enlightenment breaks them, it is not [only] the subsequent enlightenment that breaks them; yet it is not separate from the initial abode and subsequent enlightenment. This is the pervasive breaking of dharmas.
