Persons of the perfect [teaching] have the sharpest faculties, and furthermore this is the true exposition, and furthermore there are no grades, so they are best able to leap. The Yingluo explains the 'suddenly awakened Tathāgata', and the Lotus Sūtra says 'in an instant directly achieving correct awakening'—from this meaning, there is leaping. Their compassionate vows being heavy and great, in this respect there is no leaping. The Vimalakīrti says: 'Though having achieved the Buddha path, one practices the bodhisattva path to save sentient beings'—in this respect there is both leaping and non-leaping. In terms of the principle of true reality, there is neither leaping nor non-leaping; according with capacities, it universally moves; resting in principle, it is eternally quiescent, and so forth.
