「法付商那和修」。修造般遮于瑟，於曼陀山立精舍二十年。因至毱多所，坐毱多床。多諸弟子不識，乃舉手空中而雨甘露，現五百法門，多皆不識。語言：「佛入，目連不識。目連入，諸比丘不識。我入，毱多不識。我得七萬七千本生諸經、八萬毘尼八萬毘曇，汝皆不識。我若去者，法門隨去。諸弟子始覺神異。悉得羅漢度弟子已，而入涅槃。

"The Dharma was transmitted to Śāṇavāsa." Śāṇavāsa held a pañcavārṣika assembly and established a monastery at Mount Manda for twenty years. Consequently he went to the dwelling of Upagupta and sat on Upagupta's seat. Upagupta's disciples did not recognize him, so he raised his hand into the air and rained down nectar, manifesting five hundred Dharma gates, none of which Upagupta recognized. He said to him: "When the Buddha entered [samādhi], Maudgalyāyana did not recognize it. When Maudgalyāyana entered, the monks did not recognize it. When I entered, you, Upagupta, did not recognize it. I have obtained seventy-seven thousand Jātaka sūtras, eighty thousand vinaya treatises, and eighty thousand abhidharma treatises, none of which you recognize. If I depart, these Dharma gates will depart with me." The disciples then first realized his divine miraculous powers. Having delivered his disciples so that all attained arhatship, he then entered nirvāṇa.
