「法付毱多」，毱多在俗已得初果，見婬女屠裂進得三果，出家受戒得第四果。說法之時魔為障礙，毱多降已，由是不敢不閻浮提。所度夫婦得四果者乃下一籌，籌長四寸，滿丈六室，用籌燒身。法付提迦多。多登壇得初果。三羯磨得四果。

"The Dharma was transmitted to Upagupta." While still a householder, Upagupta had already attained the first fruit. Seeing a courtesan dismembered, he advanced and attained the third fruit. Leaving the household life and receiving the precepts, he attained the fourth fruit. When he preached the Dharma, Māra created obstacles; after Upagupta subdued him, [Māra] thereafter did not dare to visit Jambudvīpa. For each husband and wife he delivered who attained the fourth fruit, he would cast down a tally. The tallies were four inches long, and filled a sixteen-foot room; these tallies were used to cremate his body. The Dharma was transmitted to Dhītika. Dhītika, upon ascending the ordination platform, attained the first fruit; upon the three karmavācanā acts, he attained the fourth fruit.
