5. Signs of the manifestation of the wholesome roots of mindfulness of the Buddha. Because the practitioner cultivates calming and contemplation, if one attains the concentration of the unarrived stage of the desire realm, body and mind are empty and tranquil, and one suddenly recollects the inconceivable marks, characteristics, and merit of the Buddhas, that all their ten powers, fearlessnesses, exclusive attributes, samādhis, liberations, and other dharmas are inconceivable, that their supernormal transformations, unobstructed preaching of the Dharma, and widespread benefit to sentient beings are inconceivable—that these and other immeasurable merits are inconceivable. When one forms this recollection, a mind of love and reverence immediately arises, samādhi unfolds, body and mind are blissful, pure, secure, and stable, without any evil marks. Rising from dhyāna-concentration, the body is light and supple, and one spontaneously perceives one's merit to be towering and majestic, beloved and respected by people. This is the signs of the manifestation of the wholesome roots of the samādhi of mindfulness of the Buddha.
