若依《纓絡經》，用四大為四勝處。今明勝處，即為四意：一者、釋名；二、明階位；三、辯修證之相；四、明趣道。

If relying on the Yingluo jing, the four great elements are taken as the four stations of mastery. Now, in elucidating the stations of mastery, there are four points: first, explaining the names; second, elucidating the stages; third, distinguishing the signs of cultivation and realization; fourth, elucidating the approach to the path.
