10.74

四、次明修宿命通。行者既知他心已，若欲自知己宿命及他宿命百千萬世所作事業，即當於禪定中自憶己所，於日月歲數中經作之事，乃至歌羅邏時所作之事。如是憶念，一心願欲知之。若心明利，便發神通，即自知過去一世，乃至百千萬世劫數中宿命所作事業之相，了了分明，乃至知他宿命亦如是，是名宿命通。

Fourth, next is explaining the cultivation of the supernormal knowledge of past lives. After the practitioner knows others' minds, if they wish to know the deeds undertaken in hundreds, thousands, and myriads of lifetimes in their own past lives and others' past lives, they should right within dhyāna absorption recall for themselves the matters they have experienced and done over days, months, and years, down to the matters done at the stage of the kalala. Recalling in this way, they single-mindedly vow and wish to know it. If the mind is sharp and bright, the supernormal knowledge then erupts, and they directly know the signs of deeds undertaken in past lives over one past life, down to hundreds, thousands, and myriads of lifetimes and eons, completely clear and distinct; knowing others' past lives is also like this. This is called the supernormal knowledge of past lives.
