2.31

復次，今明持戒者但隨分隨力而修習，令增進漸漸清淨；若不爾者，不能生諸禪定。復次，頓行菩薩能以慧方便，從初發心一念之中即具持十種戒，是故經言：「發心畢竟二不別。」

Furthermore, explaining keeping the precepts now means that one simply cultivates according to one's capacity and strength, making progress toward gradual purity; if not, one cannot give rise to the dhyānas and samādhis. Furthermore, a bodhisattva of sudden practice is able, through the expedient means of wisdom, to completely keep the ten types of precepts in a single thought-instant from the first generation of the mind; therefore a sūtra says: "Initial generation of the mind and ultimate [realization] are not two or different."
