Answer: This person's bodily and verbal actions are good, and although resembling the Buddhadharma, their understanding mind is corrupt and deviant. If they do not recognize it, it will hinder the arising of the undefiledness of the three vehicles; although they do not accord with truth, within their inverted mind they can also sometimes promote the Three Jewels and encourage beings to cultivate good. When this person's life ends, they will not necessarily fall into hell, the animal realm, or the hungry ghost realm; rather, in accordance with the method of the spirit-deity with which they corresponded, they will be born in the same place as that spirit-deity, becoming part of its retinue. Sometimes they may attain rebirth among humans or gods. Hence the Scripture of the Ninety-Six Paths says that above there are more than sixty paths where, because the offenses and hindrances of corrupt inversions are severe, all require the recitation of spells to cure them; below there are more than twenty paths where the offenses and hindrances of corrupt delusions are slight and light, requiring only that one recognize them directly.
