3.130

次明非魔相者，罪障於禪，似如魔作，理實非魔，難可別識。若用前所說却之，終不得去，若能勤修懺悔，罪既除滅，則禪定自然分明。復次，或入定時，方便不巧，致令境界不如法，若更善作方便，則所證明淨，故知非魔之所作也。

Next, explaining the marks of not Māra: Sins obstruct dhyāna, appearing as if created by Māra, but in truth it is not Māra, which is difficult to distinguish. If one uses what was previously spoken of to repel it, it can never be removed; if one can diligently cultivate repentance, once the sins are eradicated, the dhyāna absorption will naturally become clear and distinct. Furthermore, when entering absorption, if one's expedient means are not skillful, causing the realm to not be in accord with the Dharma, if one again skillfully applies expedient means, what is realized will be clear and pure; thus one knows it was not created by Māra.
