答曰：實如來問，此別是一途，不妨自有發盡之者，非關罪障，必須方便，依如觀法修習，乃得成就。是中應歷五種根性人料揀：一、退分人；二、護分人；三、住分人；四、進分人；五、達分人。分別云云，今不具記。餘十四禪發盡、不盡相，類爾可知。

Answer: It is truly as you ask; this is a separate consideration. It does not preclude that there are indeed those whose [past causes] have manifested exhaustively, which does not pertain to sinful obstructions. One must employ expedient means and cultivate according to the methods of contemplation to achieve completion. Here, five kinds of persons with different faculties and natures should be examined: first, those of regressible disposition; second, those of protective disposition; third, those of abiding disposition; fourth, those of advancing disposition; fifth, those of penetrating disposition. The distinctions are extensive and will not be fully recorded now. The characteristics of the exhaustive and inexhaustive manifestations of the remaining fourteen dhyānas may be understood by analogy.
