五、明念佛中自有三種善根發相不同：一、念應佛；二、念報佛；三、念法佛。明三佛義，出《楞伽經》廣分別其相也。

5. Explaining the three different signs of the arising of wholesome roots in recollection of the Buddha: first, recollection of the response Buddha (nirmāṇakāya); second, recollection of the retribution Buddha (saṃbhogakāya); third, recollection of the Dharma Buddha (dharmakāya). The explanation of the meaning of the three Buddhas comes from the Laṅkāvatāra-sūtra, which distinguishes their signs in detail.
