第二、次明惡根性發者，自有行人修禪定時，煩惱罪垢深重，雖復止心靜住，如上所說，內外善法都不發一事，唯覺煩惱起發，是故次明惡根性發。

Second, next clarifying the manifestation of unwholesome dispositions: There are practitioners who, when cultivating dhyāna-concentration, have deep and heavy afflictions, sins, and defilements. Even though they bring the mind to rest and abide in quietude, as stated above, not a single internal or external wholesome dharma manifests at all; they only feel afflictions arising and manifesting. Therefore, we next clarify the manifestation of unwholesome dispositions.
